A clearer price watch: test the rule, then review the history

Try price-alert examples before relying on a rule, then use recorded prices, a threshold and the lowest observed price to review your watch.

A price drop and a budget crossing are different

Suppose you want to hear when an item moves below CAD 100. A change from 120 to 95 crosses that threshold. A later move from 95 to 90 is another decrease, but it does not cross the threshold again because the price was already below it. Choosing the rule that matches your decision helps keep the alert useful.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE

Try a below-price rule

BeforeCAD 120
AfterCAD 95

What this meansThe price crossed below CAD 100. Now test 95 → 90: a Price drops rule matches that decrease, while the below-price transition does not.

Example values, not a real product offer. Exactly 100 is not below a threshold of 100.

Ask whether an example would trigger

Open a monitor and expand “Would this trigger an alert?”, or use the tester after a Cloud setup preview. Enter before and after examples and choose Test these examples. It uses the configured rules and gives a plain-language explanation. It does not fetch a page, change your baseline or send a notification.

The tester also covers text, availability, new items and supported combined conditions. Test first-capture behavior and an example that should stay quiet, not just the change you hope will match. A real preview is still needed to verify the page, selected offer and currency.

See the prices PageFluxer actually observed

Successful price captures build a history chart on the monitor’s details page, including observations that did not trigger an alert. Review the recorded values, saved threshold and lowest observed price in the selected retained history. Exact observations are available in a table when you want the numbers behind the line.

The chart begins with recorded observations after the feature is enabled; older text snapshots are not converted into a numeric timeline. Configuration revisions and currencies form separate series so a later threshold edit does not rewrite the meaning of older observations.

Keep the offer and the limits in view

The lowest observed price is the lowest captured value in that history, not an all-time market low. Checks can miss short-lived prices, retention expires and a delayed Local upload is recorded when PageFluxer accepts it. The line connects observations rather than representing continuous price surveillance.

Before acting, confirm the current variant, currency, shipping and offer conditions at the source. Use the rule tester documentation for matching details and the price-history guide for series, gaps and retention.
