Separate the conversation from the scheduled checks.
Asking an assistant to look at a page is useful for an immediate question. For a PageFluxer monitoring workflow, you also need a saved URL, a verified baseline, a rule and scheduled captures. Those belong to PageFluxer, with retained evidence that you can revisit.
| Task | Responsible part of the workflow |
|---|---|
| Understand your request | ChatGPT interprets the request and selects available tools. |
| Authorize access | You approve a PageFluxer workspace and scopes through OAuth. |
| Capture and compare | PageFluxer runs Cloud checks, or the connected Chrome extension runs Local captures. |
| Deliver configured alerts | PageFluxer handles available email, webhook or team-channel delivery. |
| Review retained evidence | ChatGPT requests accessible PageFluxer events and links when you ask. |
An MCP connection does not itself send proactive updates into ChatGPT. Closing the conversation does not stop a saved Cloud monitor. Local monitors still depend on their connected browser. See the integration overview for supported actions.
Connect a workspace with the access you need.
Choose the connection route available to you.
Follow PageFluxer’s current ChatGPT setup guide. If a published listing is available, use its link. Custom MCP setup is another route where your ChatGPT account and workspace policy allow it.
Use the PageFluxer MCP endpoint and OAuth.
For a custom connection, use
https://pagefluxer.com/mcp. ChatGPT’s documented Plugins flow includes Add custom MCP server and Create as a plugin. Choose OAuth; do not paste a REST API key or website credentials into the conversation.Approve the intended workspace and scopes.
Start with monitor, change and usage read access if you only need reporting. Owners and admins can authorize management tools; workspace members use read access. A connection stays bound to the workspace approved during authorization.
Verify the connection with a small request.
Ask for your monitor list and confirm it belongs to the expected workspace. If it is empty or unfamiliar, fix the connection before creating or changing anything.
Ask questions that bring back evidence.
Good prompts say which monitors, what time range and what output you need. A summary becomes more useful when it distinguishes a detected change from an interpretation and links back to the retained event.
What changed this week on my PageFluxer monitors labelled competitor? Group the results by monitor, link to the evidence, and state any gaps in the retained coverage.
Show the before and after text for this policy change. Separate the actual wording changes from possible implications.
Which monitors need attention, and what does their last successful check tell us? Do not treat a failed check as evidence that nothing changed.
These are example requests, not captured conversations or promised results. Tools return what your workspace has retained and what your scopes allow. A monitor created yesterday cannot provide a month of earlier history, and a quiet event list does not prove that every scheduled check succeeded.
Create supported monitors through a preview.
With management access, ask to preview a supported public webpage or selectable-text PDF. Review the actual captured content, rule and interval before confirming creation. The preview becomes the quiet starting baseline; existing page text is not reported as a new change.
Preview this public product page in PageFluxer. I want a price alert when the selected USD price falls below 75. Show me the captured value, proposed schedule and workspace before creating the monitor.
If the preview selects the wrong amount or misses the content, correct the capture first. The first-monitor guide explains why scope and loading method matter. The assistant uses the same product limits and cannot make an unsupported page work by changing the wording of a prompt.
Treat the captured page as evidence, not instructions.
Webpage text may contain instructions written by someone else. It should not authorize unrelated edits, disclose secrets or change your monitoring goal. Confirm the exact monitor before allowing a management action and ask the assistant to cite the event it used.
Read permission can share selected captured content with the assistant provider, including private captures you are authorized to access. PageFluxer’s AI exclusions for Local or authenticated processing do not override your separate decision to share data through MCP.
If reads fail, check the approved workspace, scopes and connection expiry. If capture fails, inspect the PageFluxer preview or monitor health. Revoke access in Assistant connections when it is no longer needed; this stops future access, not information already shared. The MCP reference covers permissions and allowances.

Do I need a PageFluxer API subscription to connect?
Will a new change appear automatically in this chat?
Why does the assistant see a different monitor list?
